The M die is a must for cast bullet loaders. Lyman makes the best neck expander on the market.Pros: qualityCons: none

I have commenced loading hard cast polymer coated projectiles in .243 and .308, using standard dies was an issue as the gas check would enter easily but the standard belled case mouth would 'shave' the projectile. The M die has eliminated 'shaving the projectiles and ensured that I can now enjoy low cost practice!!!

The best way I have found to get thet cast bullet loaded without shaving lead off the side of you new cast projectile. I use one for each of my calibers, just makes reloading go so much more smoothly. One more tool made by Lyman that benefits the handloader big time. If you aren't using one, you need to start.

Great die though disappointed by the new lock rings Lyman now supplies. The old ones were were fine, these new ones with the grub screw that tightens onto the threads are not an improvement but just a cost cutting measure.
Hobbyman –
Great die to have if you cast bullets. It is recommended to use if you have a bullet feeder, it flares the neck allowing for a better seating when dropped by the feeder eliminating excess shaving of the projectiles.

I used one like this at my friends house and knew I would have to order one. It is the sure way to start a bullet properly aligned in the thin neck of the Hornet! Or to start a lead bullet in larger caliber brass, use the proper Lyman M die.
